marginal waters

Following a prompt from Matt Parker, this project documents the riverbanks of the West of Scotland through high-contrast black-and-white photography. There are no postcards and no landmarks here—only the sharp lines where the water meets the world.

There is a quiet tension at the water's edge: a place that is neither fully land nor fully river. By focusing on the margins of the Nith and the Clyde, these images explore the grit, the rust, and the overlooked boundaries that exist in the space between the current and the shore.

All images in this series are captured using a Panasonic Lumix GX9 with a 25mm f/1.4 lens (50mm equivalent).

To emphasize the "edge" and the tactile nature of the riverbanks, these are shot in-camera using high-contrast monochrome profiles.

Marginal Waters is currently a work in progress. As I continue to explore the boundaries of the Nith and the Clyde, new observations and frames will be added to this collection.
