Greenock Regeneration 2026
Urban spaces usually change slowly, until suddenly, they don’t.
For decades, Central Greenock’s layout has been defined by concrete flyovers, covered malls, and brutalist structures. Now, with the £24m regeneration project tearing down the High Street flyover and reshaping the streetscape, the town centre is undergoing a once in a generation transformation.
Because this work is happening just a couple of minutes’ walk from my front door, I have a front row seat to the daily shifts. Living right beside the site makes it easy to step out with the camera as hoardings go up, machinery moves in, and light begins returning to streets that have been shadowed for fifty years.
This long term project is my visual record of that shift capturing Central Greenock in full colour as it unwinds, reopens, and reconnects with the Clyde.
As the hoardings go up and the heavy machinery moves in, central Greenock is entering a period of fundamental transition.
What feels like a familiar streetscape today will look entirely different in a few months' time.
I’ll be returning to these exact spots throughout the £24m regeneration project—documenting the shift from heavy concrete and red brick to a reconnected town centre with open views back down to the Clyde.
