February in Frames:
Lines, Light, and Life
After a steady start in January, February arrived with a different kind of energy. This month was defined by a shift between the intentional, technical practice of the Alphabet Tech Photo Challenge and the sudden, reactive nature of documentary life. From the quiet streets of Dumfries to the clinical environment of a hospital ward, here is how my February looked through the lens.
The Alphabet Tech Challenge: Perspective and Patience
This month, the challenge pushed me to look at my surroundings with a much more analytical eye. It wasn't just about finding a subject, but about how to frame it:

A Documentary Project: John’s Hospital Stay
Life doesn't always wait for the perfect conditions. Mid-month, my brother-in-law, John, had a short stay in the hospital. While it was a worrying time, he is thankfully doing much better now.
During his stay, I took a candid, documentary approach to photography. Rather than posing shots, I focused on the reality of the experience—the quiet moments of waiting, the specific textures of the hospital environment, and the relief of recovery. Looking back at these frames, February feels like a month of navigating shifts—from the structured discipline of the Alphabet Tech Challenge to the sudden, quiet reality of John’s stay in the hospital. I’m so grateful that John is back on his feet and that I was able to find moments of creative stillness, even when the Scottish weather tried its best to keep me indoors.
Thank you for following along as I continue to document 2026. Whether it’s through an abstract glimpse of the River Nith or a candid moment in a hospital corridor, I appreciate you sharing in these snapshots of my year.
I’ll see you in March!
